Community Connector
Raw Material is a creative music and media charity and Arts Council NPO 23-26, based in Brixton. We provide a vibrant, purpose-built space with industry standard music studios, production suites, and rehearsal facilities to empower young people and adults (ages 11–70) through music, media and creative expression.
We work closely with communities across South London, with a particular focus on supporting those experiencing mental ill health. Our creative programmes foster talent, promote wellbeing, and ‘make a creative life a tangible reality’ for the communities we serve.
We are now looking for a passionate and dynamic individual to help strengthen connections between Raw Material and its local communities. As a member of the Programmes Team, you will lead the development and delivering of an impactful Community Engagement Programme (CEP) to increase Raw Material’s community presence.
You will create meaningful pathways, and build strong relationships and partnerships with key local stakeholders across south London’s health, education, community and arts sectors; and raise awareness, increase participation and champion Raw Material’s work and the power of creativity to support wellbeing and social inclusion.
This is a new role, at an exciting time in the organisation’s development following a recent major capital refurbishment of our centre, and the creation and launch of newly accessible spaces, facilities and programme opportunities for our members. By bringing people into Raw Material’s programmes, you'll help us unlock creativity and make a positive difference in people’s lives.
The successful candidate will have:
Proven experience developing and delivering community engagement strategies.
2+ years of project and budget management experience.
Strong facilitation and presentation skills for participatory workshops and events.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across diverse groups and sectors.
A track record of supporting youth or community-led initiatives.
An understanding of the experiences of marginalised and challenged groups/communities (inc. those with mental health needs), and the factors that negatively impact them.
A creative and proactive approach, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Why Join Us?
At Raw Material, you'll be part of a mission-driven, passionate and diverse team dedicated to using creativity to enrich the lives of diverse communities and make a lasting social impact. We offer a collaborative, dynamic environment where your ideas and energy will be valued.
If you would like an informal chat about the job, please get in touch with Sasha Leacock, Programme Director, Raw Material on sasha@rawmusicmedia.co.uk.
Closing Date: 5 pm - 4th April 2025
Interviews: 22nd April 2025
