We’re looking for experienced creative facilitators
to deliver their practice within our community.
Raw Material invites creative practitioners and facilitators to lead a programme which benefits members of our community.
Each term we invite artist facilitators to Pitch Your Programme by submitting a short video proposal to our termly Programme Committee, where our members select a new guest programme to run at Raw.
Pitch Your Programme creates space for experienced Creative Facilitators to:
Develop or incubate a new programme or approach to delivering their practice they’ve been working on
Build on previous experience of delivering their existing practice, but applying it in a community setting.
This pitch should be designed to deliver either a:
5-day intensive school holiday programme (10 hours maximum / 2 hours per session).
5-week programme (1 session per week / 2 hours per session).
We’re looking for facilitators with at least 2 years experience in delivering workshops in their specialist field. We’re looking for programmes that are aligned with Raw’s core activities across music, creativity and media.
Raw Material runs a variety of programmes for Young Creatives (aged 11-30) and for adults who are 18+. It is up to you whether you aim your pitch towards a specific age group.
This opportunity is NOT open to those with limited (less than 2 years) experience or those whose practice is not based in music or media.
Who is This for?
Tips for a Successful Pitch
-
VOICE is Vital
Audiences are easily distracted. Use your voice to emphasise, create theatre, convey passion/emotion – avoid blandness.
-
Focus on 1 or 2 key points you want your audience to go away thinking/knowing/feeling. Thread throughout your pitch. Keep slides, message simple!
-
Structure helps maintain clarity of message, drive the pitch, and avoid awkward silences, over talking and non-verbal fillers (e.g. ‘um’).
-
Focus your ending on the audience with ‘you’ – avoid ‘I’ (making it about yourself)
“The one thing I want you to take away”
“The most important thing I want you to go away with today is XYZ…”
“If there is one thing I want you to remember is…”
Link your ending back to your presentation’s main aims/points.
Below is a successful past pitch to help give an idea of what is expected.
