Katy Newman - Finance and Resources Manager
Katy looks after the organisation’s finances and makes sure our resources are used in the best way possible. She manages everything from budgets and financial planning to HR, governance and day-to-day financial operations, helping to keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.
Katy joined Raw Material in November 2020 and is now our Finance and Resources Manager. A graduate in International Business and Modern Languages, she began her career as a graduate trainee in a large corporation, gaining experience across Finance, HR and Marketing. After a period teaching English as a Foreign Language, Katy went on to hold a range of finance roles in different organisations before joining Raw Material.
Music has always been an important part of her life, and with lived experience of supporting people with mental health challenges, Raw Material is a natural fit.

Best Live Music Experience
“In my teens I was a huge fan of The Smiths (still am!). In 1988 The Smiths put on a farewell gig at Wolverhampton Civic Hall which was free for anyone wearing a Smiths T-shirt. We drove to the gig and queued for seven hours to get in. The atmosphere in the queue was unbelievable with so many diehard Smiths fans and the gig itself was full of all my favourite Smiths songs. Unfortunately after the gig we got back to the car park to discover it wasn’t a 24 hour car park and we couldn’t get the car until 7am the next morning but that’s another story…..”
